Run Claude Code and Codex side by side

Panorama gives every agent CLI its own real terminal on one pan-and-zoom board. Here is how to get Claude Code and Codex working next to each other, with both in view and a way to pass work between them.

curl -fsSL https://getpanorama.app/install.sh | bash
The Panorama board with Claude Code and Codex CLI side by side in a team frame, a Gemini CLI console and a kanban board below, and a sidebar counting consoles that are working, need you or are resting.

Step by step

How to do it in Panorama

  1. Install Panorama

Paste the install command from this page into Terminal. It puts Panorama.app in /Applications and adds a pano command. You need an Apple Silicon Mac on macOS 13 or later, plus Claude Code and Codex CLI installed as you normally would: Panorama launches the CLIs you already have, signed in with your own accounts.

  2. Open your project

In Terminal, cd into your repo and run pano .. The folder becomes a workspace, and every console you add starts in it.

  3. Add both agents

Press ⌘K, type new claude and hit ↵, then ⌘K and new codex. You can also click either one under Agents in the sidebar. Each lands as a real terminal on the board.

  4. Brief each one

Click into a terminal and type as you normally would. Or send a prompt from anywhere: press ⌘K and enter claude, add tests for the parser or codex, review the last commit. Panorama sends it to that console as a prompt, starting the console first if it isn’t running.

  5. Watch both at once

Every console shows whether it is working, resting or needs you, and the sidebar keeps a live count. Pan with two fingers, pinch to zoom, and press ⌘0 to fit both on screen.

  6. Hand work across

Open a console’s … menu and choose Hand off output to, or enter hand off from claude to codex: review this. Panorama sends the other agent the last 80 lines of output along with your instruction. Link two consoles and switch the link to Automatic to hand off every time the first one finishes a task.

Good to know

  • These are real terminals, not transcripts: Ctrl–C and full-screen interfaces behave as they do in Terminal, and history is kept across restarts.
  • Put both agents in a team and they share a chat and a goal: see how to run a team of agents.
  • Closed one by accident? Press ⌘Z and it comes back, history and all.
  • Any of the 30+ agent presets works the same way, and so does any command you add yourself.

Put your agents on the board.
