Panorama Privacy Policy

Panorama is made by Vantic of Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, which is the data controller for the personal information described here. Last updated: 21 October 2026.

The short version

What leaves your Mac

Update check. When Panorama opens, and every 6 hours while it stays open, it asks the Panorama website whether a newer version exists. The request carries your app version, your Mac's chip architecture (for example arm64), the operating system name (macOS) and why it was sent (Panorama just opened, the 6-hour timer, or you chose Check for updates). There is no account, device identifier or other tracking identifier in it. Turn it off in Settings → Check for updates, and Panorama makes no such request at all. Builds that are run from source never make it.

Vantic does not store the IP address of an update check. Our function records one log line with the version, chip, platform, check reason and whether an update is available. It also adds one to a set of anonymous daily counts: how many checks came in each day, and how many of those were from each app version, chip, platform and check reason. These are totals only, with no identifier and no record of any one Mac, so they cannot be traced back to you. We use them to see how often Panorama is used and which versions are still in use. The website's hosting provider, Vercel, still processes the request, including its IP address, to deliver it, under its own privacy policy.

Speech model. The first time you use push-to-talk, Panorama downloads a speech model (Whisper) from Hugging Face. The download goes straight from your Mac to Hugging Face, which sees the usual request details such as your IP address, under its own policy. After that, your voice is transcribed on your Mac and your audio goes nowhere.

The optional planner. The planner is off until you turn it on and choose a provider in Settings. When it is on, each planner request sends the provider you chose your command, the name, agent, status, team and role of your consoles, and the last dozen or so lines of each console's screen. If you point it at a model on your own Mac, such as Ollama or LM Studio, that stays on your Mac. If you point it at a hosted provider, that provider receives it and its policy applies. Your API key is stored on your Mac and is sent only to that provider.

Agent CLIs. Claude Code, Codex, Gemini CLI and the other agents that Panorama runs are separate products. Each one talks to its own provider, just as it does in an ordinary terminal. Panorama does not sit in the middle of those connections and does not receive what they send.

Web pages. A web node, or a link you open, loads the page you asked for, like any browser would.

What is stored on your Mac

Panorama keeps its data in ~/Library/Application Support/Panorama: your boards and workspaces, your settings (including a planner API key if you add one), and terminal history. History files are readable only by your user account. Turn off Settings → Keep terminal history and Panorama stops saving history and deletes what it saved.

Documents, diagrams, notes and exported chats that you or your agents create are ordinary files in your project folders, under a .panorama folder.

To remove everything, delete Panorama.app and the Application Support folder above.

This website

The Panorama website uses Vercel Web Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to count page views and measure performance. They do not use cookies and do not build a profile of individual visitors. They record things like the page visited, the referring site, the browser and device type, the country the visit came from, and how fast the page loaded, plus anonymous counts of events such as copying the install command. Vercel also processes ordinary request information, including IP addresses, to serve the site and the installer.

What Panorama does not do

Panorama has no accounts, no advertising, no crash-reporting service and no analytics inside the app. Vantic does not sell personal information.

Your choices and rights

Because Vantic holds almost no personal information about you, there is usually little to access or correct. We handle personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles where they apply to us. To ask what we hold, to correct it, or to make a complaint, email us. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can contact the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

Changes

We may update this policy. The current version is on the Panorama website and in the app under Help → Privacy Policy, with its date at the top. For material changes we will give notice in the app, on the website or both.
